Race Day–Live Tracking

http://www.race-dezert.com/home/2011-score-baja-1000-live-coverage

The above link is live, you should be able to see our progress and keep up with the race. I will try, when I can, to do some updates …

Gentleman, start your engines!

UPDATE … Here is another useful link … http://www.rlhcomm.com/BFG.html

If you listen to the live broadcast, you will hear the radio relays. We are using VHF radios (like the ones of boats, but a different frequency). Our radios are line of sight, but the race organizers have setup radio relays … towers up on the mountains … from these, they can “see” all of the course … which allows you to talk to them, and relay information to your team.

We are 3 radios … “Race 1502” is the race Jeep. “1502 Chase 1” is our pickup truck. “1502 Chase 2” is the rental Jeep we have.

If you here 1502, it is one of us… if we need to get information to/from each other … and our dedicated freq (Tim has 159.135 Mhz) does work (out of range) … we talk to relay, they then talk to who we want … sort of a Chinese whispers thing.
