Slow progress ... equipment and weather delays
Well, Halloween has come and gone and we have not been able to make the progress that we had hoped for. It seems that in the last 3 weeks, little forward motion has occurred. To be fair, we have completed a bunch of small things, but the plan of being ready for Halloween didn't happen.
Most of the delay (2 wks) can be attributed to our insulation people, who expensive machine broken down and/or was out of commission. We chose to use "foam" insulation, which is sprayed from a machine and expands. This stuff, fills all voids, creates a water barrier, creates an air barrier and provides better insulating properties than other forms of insulation. Since it bonds to everything it also provides structural support, basically "gluing" everything together.
The material comes in 50 gal drums (2 types) and is mixed in a "gun" when sprayed. It comes out of the nozzle at over 1200 psi and 145F. The guys applying it basically wear haz mat suits.
We are very happy with the finished product. The rooms are incredibly quiet. Now we're looking forward to seeing the next step done.
